U.S. Appeals Court Clears Way for Fast-Track Deportations of Haitian Parole Migrants, Allowing ICE to Deport Some Immigrants Without Immigration Court Hearings

A U.S. federal appeals court has cleared the way for the Trump administration to use expedited removal against certain immigrants who entered the country through humanitarian parole programs, including Haitians.

The ruling allows immigration authorities to place eligible parolees into a fast-track deportation process that does not provide the traditional hearing before an immigration judge.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a lower-court ruling that had blocked the administration’s directives. The appeals court, however, did not definitively decide the broader legality of expedited removal for parolees, meaning additional legal challenges remain possible.
