Spain’s David Badía Appointed Haiti Head Coach

The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) announced, this Saturday, that David Badía has been named head coach of Haiti’smen’s national team, taking over from Sébastien Migné, who has signed with Gabon.

Badía, a 51-year-old Spanish coach, spent four years in Barcelona’s youth academy, where he held managerial and directorial roles from 2012 to 2016. He went on to join the technical staffs of Fenerbahçe and Almería as an assistant coach.

As a head coach, Badía has led clubs including AEK Larnaca, Ethnikos Achna and Lechia Gdańsk. He takes charge of the Grenadiers as Haiti prepares for a new chapter following its qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup under Migné.

In a short video posted by theFHF on its Facebook page introducing the new coach, Badía offered his first words to Haitian supporters, borrowing the national team’s rallying cry: “Grenadye Alaso! Men mwen.”

Migné, a Frenchman, took overthe Grenadiers in June 2024 and led Haiti to a historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the country’s second-ever appearance in the tournament.

Badía’s first test on the Grenadiers’ bench will come in the Concacaf Nations League, where Haiti opens Group A play against Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday, September 24, at Sabina Park Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. Haiti’s group also includes Costa Rica, Curaçao, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, with the top two finishers advancing to the quarterfinals.
