Infantino praises Monique André, reaffirms FIFA support for Haitian football

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has reaffirmed his support for Haitian football after meeting with Monique André, chairwoman of the Haitian Football Federation’s Normalization Committee, in Zurich.

In a post shared on Instagram, Infantino said the meeting focused on the future of football in Haiti and how FIFA and Haitian football authorities can work together to create greater opportunities for the sport’s development. He also highlighted the need for a clear pathway that allows young Haitian players to progress to the highest levels of the game.

Infantino spoke particularly positively about André’s role at the federation, saying: “I am impressed by her leadership and commitment to Haitian football.” He noted that he had previously interacted with André during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 76th FIFA Congress, giving him an opportunity to observe her work and commitment to the national game.

The FIFA president also congratulated Haiti’s U-14 national team on winning the 2026 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Challenge Series.

Infantino also wished good luck to the Haitian team preparing to compete at the FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year, another important opportunity for a new generation of Grenadiers to gain international experience. His comments come after FIFA has repeatedly emphasized the importance of expanding football development and creating opportunities for young players beyond the traditional global powers.
