Haiti police seize nearly $45,260 at Cap-Haïtien International Airport

Customs agents at Cap-Haïtien International Airport, working with Haiti’s Anti-Drug Trafficking Bureau (BLTS), seized nearly $45,260 in U.S. currency during an operation conducted Friday, Aug. 21, the National Police of Haiti’s communications directorate (DIKOP) announced last Sunday.

The seizure involved a woman identified as Guideline Duperme, who was arriving from Turks and Caicos. She was arrested on the spot after agents discovered the undeclared cash, according to the police statement.

Following her arrest, Duperme was handed over to the competent authorities to face legal proceedings, DIKOP said.

The police communiqué did not specify additional charges or say whether the funds were linked to any broader investigation.
