Haiti crushes Dominican Republic 6-1 to reach CFU U-14 Final against Jamaica

Haiti’s U-14 Grenadiers dismantled host nation Dominican Republic 6-1 in a lopsided Hispaniola derby on Friday, August 21, powering into the final of the 2026 CFU Boys’ Under-14 Tier I Challenge Series, where they will face defending champions Jamaica on Sunday.

Playing at Los Establos in Cap Cana, Haiti took control from the opening whistle. Jerry Petit-Homme opened the scoring in the 1st minute with a long-range effort from midfield that slipped through the hands of Dominican goalkeeper Ricardo Sang. Wensley Dumorne doubled the lead four minutes later, collecting the ball near the edge of the box before finishing into the net.

Jodley Sheeckensley Delmas made it 3-0 in the 25th minute, pouncing on a poorly cleared ball to beat Sang with a powerful strike. The Dominican Republic briefly responded three minutes later when Pedro Ramirez converted a rebound after Haitian goalkeeper Marc-Evens Lubin parried the initial shot, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Haiti restored their three-goal cushion just before halftime when Edysson Paul-Jean intercepted a short pass from Sang and beat him to make it 4-1. Dumorne struck again in the 41st minute for his second of the match, 5-1, before Ronelson Pelé Janvier sealed the rout from the penalty spot in the 51st minute after a Dominican handball inside the area, closing the scoring at 6-1.

The victory sends Haiti, a two-time champion of the tournament, having won the title in 2021 and 2022, into Sunday’s final against Jamaica, who advanced with a narrow 1-0 win over Bermuda in the other semifinal on the same day.

Haiti reached the semifinal unbeaten in regulation, having opened the tournament with a 5-2 win over French Guiana and a 4-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago, before a narrow 1-0 loss to Puerto Rico in their final group match, a result that did not prevent their advance to the knockout stage.

The Grand Final between Haiti and Jamaica is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, at Cap Cana Sports City, with kickoff time still to be announced.
