Haiti: authorities lower gasoline price to 700 Gourdes

Haitian authorities have announced new prices for petroleum products at the pump, effective August 10, 2026, bringing a modest drop in the cost of gasoline even as diesel and kerosene remain elevated.

According to a joint notice from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), signed by Minister Serge Gabriel Collin and Minister James Monazard, gasoline will now sell for 700 gourdes per gallon nationwide, down from 725 gourdes. Diesel is set at 770 gourdes, while kerosene will cost 765 gourdes per gallon.

The revised pricing follows recommendations issued August 7 by the Conseil Consultatif de Suivi du Marché Pétrolier (Petroleum Market Monitoring Advisory Council), a body that brings together labor union representatives, importing and distributing companies, and government ministries to advise on tariff adjustments based on global market trends.

The joint MEF-MCI notice frames the new pricing mechanism as part of a broader effort to bring more transparency to how fuel prices are set and to better reflect both global market movements and domestic economic realities. The measure applies to importers, distributors, and consumers of petroleum products across the entire national territory.

The government’s advisory council is expected to continue reviewing prices periodically as international market conditions evolve.
