Football: Wilson Isidor signs new Sunderland deal until 2030

Haitian international striker Wilson Isidor has signed a new long-term contract with Sunderland AFC, extending his stay at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2030. The club confirmed the news on Isidor’s 26th birthday, closing the door on transfer interest from West Ham United, Ipswich Town and Hull City that had built up over the summer.

Isidor has scored 19 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions since joining Sunderland from Zenit Saint Petersburg, initially on loan before the move was made permanent. Twelve of those goals came during the club’s promotion campaign, with seven more in last season’s Premier League run.

The forward also earned international recognition this year, representing Haiti at the FIFA World Cup and scoring what was widely regarded as one of the tournament’s best goals in a strike against Morocco.

“I’m very happy to continue my journey with Sunderland,” Isidor said. “This Club has given me some great memories already, and I feel there is still a lot more to achieve here. Playing in the Premier League and representing Haiti at the World Cup have been special moments for me.”

The decision comes as Isidor had been heavily linked with a move to West Ham this summer, with his club’s Premier League status cited as a key factor in his choice to stay.
